2008 Boating Safety Course & Vessel Safety Check Brochure Boating Safety Course Schedule |
VESSEL SAFETY CHECK SCHEDULE Vessel Safety Checks (VSC) are a free service offered by the USCG Auxiliary to educate the boater on equipment needed on the owners vessel. The program helps to achieve a voluntary compliance with Federal and State recreational boating safety laws, particularly regarding the carriage of safety equipment. It also raises boater awareness of safety issues through one-on-one contact with volunteer vessel examiners. VSCs parallel Federal and State regulations regarding equipment and safety conditions of the vessel. A VSC is not a law enforcement action. No official report is given to any law enforcement authority. A decal is awarded and placed on boats passing the VSC. The table below lists the planned VSC events. It may be necessary to reschedule an examination day if there is a major event occurring at any of the listed locations, or if other circumstances prevent Vessel Examiners from being present on the schedule day. VSCs can be performed at any time, at most locations, and as long as the vessel is on its trailer or docked or moored. VSCs cannot be performed on vessels that are underway. We perform Vessel Safety Checks year round. If you would like to schedule a VSC at a time or location not listed below please locate the nearest Vessel Examiner to you at our on-line database http://safetyseal.net/GetVsc/, call us at 256-767-0546 or email us at INFO@a0822404.uscgaux.info. Arrangements will be made for a Vessel Examiner to contact you directly to arrange for your VSC.
